Sleep deprivation, tantrums, fussiness, discipline - the hope we find in the gospel is sufficient for it all.
No matter what your day to day looks like, remind yourself of the grace of God. He has met our rebellion with rescue and sustains us in every thing we walk through.
It isn’t pretty. It isn’t perfect. But it is completely worthwhile.
I don’t remember that moment because of the overwhelming sadness. I remember it because that’s where God met me.

I don’t want discontentment to take hold of this season and call it a ‘struggle’, when really I’m just choosing to sin consistently and then feel bad about it later.
In this season and the next, for as long as we are here on this earth, we will both need the grace of God to carry us through. And praise the Lord, there is an endless supply of it, sufficient to handle even our messiest of days.
Our daughter has given an emphatic “No, thank you” and has scooted her way to wherever she pleases.
As I laid in the ruins of another attempt at a self-made refuge, it became clear that I needed help.
“You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”
No matter the stage of life, no matter the circumstances surrounding us, our God will always be a refuge for us and is faithful to be our only hope.
